Danica was born to her parents Marian and John Paul Roem in Virginia. His father passed away when she was just 3 years of age by committing suicide and she was raised by her maternal grandfather. Danica got enrolled in Loch Lomond Elementary School in Virginia and then shifted to All Saints School. She moved to New York to pursue her journalism studies at St. Bonaventure University.
